I decided to make a list of the girls in contemporary young literature that are brainy and dedicated and are cool for that. Goin through the book I've read recently, I was surprised that there aren't that many, I guess that makes them more special but I hope the list grows. I would love to hear more smart girls you have found.
Anyway, here they are, first is Lindy, and just like the original Belle, she loves books, but in this adaptation she is also convinced that studying hard is what will help her to have a better life, she is not the girl that waits for her prince to rescue her, after all she is and independent girl from the XXI and her life hasn't been easy.
Then we have the amazing Sydney Sage. She is my favorite one of course, they should give Richelle Mead a medal because smart girls rock thanks to her. She has made seconday characters take the lead in the most awesome way. Sydney is not only smart because the Alchemist formation but she has prove to be beyond that, she is a heroine that uses her brain instead of her strength.
Hermione is a must have in the list, Harry wouldn't have survive without her. She have this photographic memory that makes her a walking library.
The next one, probably not many people know her. April is the oldest one of the three sisters with special powers. She is the responsable one, who has good grades and respects the rules (oh yeah I identified with her not just for her name). Oh, and I haven't mention the cool part, her super power is that she can see the future!
Then there's India Jane. And I know, how did she get here if she struggle to catch up in her new school? Well, that's because she makes a hard choice in order to have better grades because she know is important for her future. She is one of those characters that are good role models for girls. I haven't seen such a mature and realistic character.
And finally we have Leslie, the best friend of Gwendolyn. As a good girl of this era, she knows she has internet to help them in everything they need to know. And she can solve secret codes as good as a detective. As she would say, one of them needs to have the clear head and her hilarious explanation about what the hearts are made of: g-e-n-i-u-s.

So I've finally completed one more section, yeah! It's right in the middle icon, and in it you have all my profile accounts.
Twitter,
aNobii,
Polyvore,
DeviantArt, and
We Heart It, all with cute little icons that I did. So, if you happen to have an account in one of these you might want to add me and make me very happy.

This blog skin has so many spaces for information as a big house with lots of rooms. Most of them are still waiting empty mostly because I honestly don't know what to do with those 9 spaces (each one is an icon if you haven't figure out yet). One to enter the blog an another to the credits so that left me with 7. The one with the notebook is for the twitter(although i think i have to fix the gadget because is not working)and the one that has the asian cat is the shelf for the korean dramas I've watched. And one of those spaces had to be, of course, "About me" section. But instead of writing a description of myself that probably no one cares to read I decided to make a collage of some things that I like. I think that it reflects a little bit better my personality (although I hope nobody starts to make a serious and profound physological analysis of it).

I am Mr. Darcy
Until now I had thought I was more like Lizzie Bennet, you know a girl that is very close to her sister, who is honest, humble, who has good sense of humor, as well as a lot of flaws like everyone else (and a mother that talks a bit too much about marriage). And I do have those qualities but I'm also a lot like Darcy. I guess it's because is easier to identified with a woman when you are a woman but also I'm not exactly the same I was five years ago and things have changed. I'm serious sometimes, and it's something I'm still working on. Also I am a bit vain not in the
oh I'm so beautiful-kind of way but more in the
I know I work hard and I always try to be a good person so I don't like it when people look down on me. Like Darcy I don't have many friends but the ones I have, I care a lot about them. I'm too much rational as well, and have high standards for my life (What can I say, I'm an idealistic). So in conclusion, I am like both of them.
I think one of the reasons why these characters are still so loved is because they are not perfect, they do their best, and learn and become better with their experiences and that's something we can all relate to. God knows is a struggle every day to overcome our flaws. No more proof that the web series
The Lizzie Bennet Diaries which is the recommendation of the day, (yeah!) I just fell with the story all over again. If you haven't seen it, give it a shot. It's so creative and they have made an awesome job with the twists and the characters. So far, it's my favorite adaptation of the book and the modern aproach made realize how much of a Darcy I am.

A week ago I went to my causin´s wedding in Veracruz. It was actually a really crazy day specially because we were in a place we didn't know. The wedding was ok, you could really see my cousin was happy. At the end we couldn't go back to our hotel because of the deep fog and had to crash at my uncle's suite until the dawn. Oh, and my aunt set us up with some of my cousins friends (so they were quite old for us) and we had to dance with them and the whole thing was really awkard and I just wanted it to be over. Anyway, as always, weddings make me think about my own wedding and how I'd like it to be, i guess is what happens to all of us, right?
